STONEWARE BLUE MILK JUG
Stoneware Milk Pot
A fun and cheerful milk jug to make part of your teatime ritualsf joy
Craft Type: Studio Pottery
This milk jug does what all other jugs do, plus it looks real good doing it. Made from stoneware, it is ready to use. Also since stoneware is a stronger material than earthenware, it is likely to last a long time. This milk jug is handmade by artisans at Windglaze Studio Pottery, a studio based in Auroville near Pondicherry. This product is handcrafted and therefore slight variations in colours, textures and forms are inevitable and aren’t flaws.
Made in: Pondicherry
No. of pieces in a set: 1, One Jug
Stoneware is made from clay and fired at high temperatures in a kiln to harden. Characteristically, stoneware is less porous and more durable than earthenware. Much like other clay products, stoneware is also made by kneading the clay and then throwing it onto a pottery wheel. The shaped clay product then goes through the process of bisque firing, glaze application, drying, and glaze firing to make the final product. Pottery in the Indian subcontinent has a long history — it has existed as a craft form for centuries. Ikai Asai’s collection of stoneware is developed in collaboration with small-scale units and largely processed by hand — bringing together the best of industrial technology and craft.
