Perfectly Imperfect: Wabi Sabi way of life

Crafted as modern classics, the newest collection by Danish design studio Ferm Living, is built around pieces designed to grow and evolve, much like our homes. Each piece in this eight-series-collection is created to move easily between rooms, adapt to changing routines, and remain relevant over time, allowing flexibility, interpretation, and personal use.

The objects are no longer simply utilitarian, they are sculptural, like new age collectibles. They marry functionality with an appreciation for the form like the Evio vase for example. A stand out piece made of stoneware, each individually crafted, with a broad flowing rim, it is designed to make a big statement, whether you use it as a piece of art or to hold flowers.

With a renewed focus on the handmade, the Kiru glass series employs Kurinuki, a traditional Japanese pottery technique which involves subtraction instead of addition, where clay is carved and hollowed out to form a piece. Each piece from this series is mouth-blown from 100% recycled glass, and using the Kurinuki technique, the forms are first hand-carved in clay and then translated into a brick mould. This process presses the ceramic texture into the glass, giving each piece in the Series a unique, organic handcrafted finish.

This rooted in craft approach reflects a slower, more grounded way of living where the collection makes room for both the composed and the imperfect, creating spaces that feel lived in, personal, and authentic.
