It's hard to walk into an Alessi store and not want a piece of everything for yourself. It’s not for nothing that this Italian design behemoth is known as one of the most loved homeware brands in the world. With a roster of design classics, from the Juicy Salif, Anna G, Pino, Circus, by design legends like Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini, Stefano Giovannoni and Marcel Wanders, it has been at the forefront of design collectibles since 1921.
Known for bringing joy to everyday living, it’s little wonder that their latest outpost in Milan by another design icon, Japanese designer, Naoto Fukasawa reflects every bit of that ethos. The new space interprets design not merely as form and function, but as an expression of a lifestyle, “Alessi’s new space feels less like a shop and more like a home. It is a place that gently reminds us of the essence of living,” says Fukasawa. Dressed in neutrals, the interiors of the store allow the objects to appear gradually while letting them take centre stage. Fukasawa shares, “The interior, defined by oak and white finishes, enhances the quiet brilliance of metal and the soft glow of porcelain. Its radical simplicity creates an atmosphere of both calm and quiet excitement. With a café integrated into the space, it allows exceptional objects to be chosen naturally, within the flow of everyday life. In this place, think of your home, and the days that unfold within it”.
Marking a shift from being the flag bearer of contemporary design to championing culture, the space also has a curated selection that includes books, a selected range of clothing and a distinctive, experiential bar that forms an integral part of the design underlining Alessi’s philosophy that, design is not only displayed, but lived. This space resides at the intersection of every coffee and design lover’s dream, where exclusive coffee selections from historic Italian coffee roaster, Caffè Vergnano is prepared using the distinctive coffee makers from Alessi and served in its iconic serve ware. That’s one way to ensure a delightful morning, we think!
