The clay product then goes through the process of bisque firing, glaze application, drying, and then glaze firing to make the final ceramic product.

- Wash by hand only, using a mild dishwashing soap and warm water. Use a soft sponge to avoid abrasions. Clean immediately after use, and wipe it dry using a clean, dry cloth. Avoid stacking terracotta dishes in the sink.
- While stacking for storage, consider using tissue in between terracotta products.
- Terracotta wares are safe to serve from and eat out of. However, it is not advisable to store food in them.
