It’s a picturesque setting near Calicut on India’s southwestern coast. The Western Ghats rise and ebb in the background while sweeping curves emerge out of a futuristic shell. This is tulåh, the newest, and perhaps the most ambitious wellness project this far in the Ayurveda capital, Kerala. Designed by Dubai-based LAMI architects, the topography of the landscape is woven into the architecture, which is spread across 30 acres of medicinal gardens and rewilded forests. The biodiversity here nurtures a living pharmacy of medicinal herbs and plants, forming the very foundation of many ancient healing traditions.
tulåh was shaped by a deeply personal experience of founder, entrepreneur and philanthropist Faizal E Kottikollon. Not too long ago, Faizal was experiencing numbness in his hands and persistent neck pain, and surgery seemed to be the only way out. It is then that he turned to Ayurveda to get to the root cause of the issue – that paired with modern medicine through experienced neurologists and physiotherapists helped him reverse his condition. This experience moved him to share this integrative approach to healing with the world. “The beauty of clinical wellness is that you heal people, and that’s the biggest blessing you can get in life,” says Faizal.
Blending the ancient Eastern wisdom of ayurveda, yoga, vedanta, Tibetan and TCM with advanced diagnostics and regenerative medicine, it moves away from the single focus on one core therapy system. tulåh means balance in Sanskrit, and it is the guiding principle for all treatment plans at the wellness centre. With 65 suites and 14 treatment areas, this is perhaps a preview of the future of integrative healthcare. Integrated systems, be it through design or medicine help create a seamless experience at this clinical wellness centre.
Every programme is hyper-personalised leading to either of the two pathways, both grounded in the same integrative care. The wellness journey focuses on prevention, optimisation and lifestyle recalibration while the clinical journey supports chronic conditions and recovery. Both routes represent one vision, that true healing begins when clinical expertise meets traditional practices.
A truly restorative, holistic approach, healing at tulåh encourages you to create a life that you love than one that you need to keep running from.
