₹ 1,300.00

A delicately designed small plate for appetisers, sides or freshly cut fruit

Craft Type:  Studio Pottery

This handcrafted stoneware plate, with its rough edges and gorgeous floral carving, will be a delight to serve out of. Use it for appetisers at a dinner party or for tea time with friends. Pair it with the Song Dinner Plate to make a set.

This stoneware plate is handcrafted in Maharashtra. It is part of Ikai Asai’s Deva collection, whose design inspiration comes from Uttarakhand’s pristine forests, high mountains, and ethereal landscapes.

This product is handcrafted and therefore slight variations in colours, textures and forms are inevitable and aren’t flaws.

Made in: Karnataka

Material:  Stoneware

Dimensions (cm):  Length: 19.7, Breadth: 19.7, Height: 1.6, Dia: 19.7

No. of pieces in a set:  1, One Plate

Stoneware is made from clay and fired at high temperatures in a kiln to harden. Characteristically, stoneware is less porous and more durable than earthenware.

Much like other clay products, stoneware is also made by kneading the clay and then throwing it onto a pottery wheel. The shaped clay product then goes through the process of bisque firing, glaze application, drying, and glaze firing to make the final product.

Pottery in the Indian subcontinent has a long history — it has existed as a craft form for centuries. Ikai Asai’s collection of stoneware is developed in collaboration with studio potters, who usually operate alone or sometimes with assistants. These pieces are largely processed entirely by hand, from developing the clay body and shaping the piece to formulating the final glazes.

- Wash using a mild dishwashing soap. Dry using a soft towel or tissue. Avoid stacking stoneware dishes in the sink.
- While stacking for storage, consider using tissue in between stoneware dishes.
- This stoneware product is microwave-safe.
